International Bridge Models Contest - Bucharest 2025

Another competition passed, another great experience gained. I really enjoyed being there and testing the limits of our model! This year, we have tried a new approach, by building a different frame for it! We saw the arch potential from last year, and replaced it with... exactly the same thing! Just made a trapezoidal shape instead for better manufacturing quality control. Despite not being perfect, we succeed to achieve a pretty good score, especially compared to lasts year model, puting us on 5th place.

UPB Pulsar 2025 - a fresh start for our team

After submiting my application and being accepted in the UPB Robtastic team, I am excited to start working on our interdisciplinary Mars project, for the upcoming European Rover Challenge! Here I hope to enhance, not only my skills in mechanical parts, but also in other fields as well. I believe this is Bucharest's first participation in such contest, so wish us luck! :)

During my summer job, I have succesfully rendered a topographic surface in 3D using Revit. Still learning though.

Android Auto via HDMI under 2.5W

I created a program that can run Wireless Android Auto on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and a dongle with a power consumption under 2.5W (5V; 0.5A). The requirements were the follwoing: Wireless Android Auto with PCM sound supoort (for lossless audio packet stream), Quick Automated Power - when engine starts (both the Pi and the program - under 30 seconds), stable connection. I succesfully made achieved these and after 2 weeks of testing, the final product is stable enough to be used daily.

Some insights, problems and future developments: This was made for my old car headunit which supports HDMI input for connecting different devices. I wanted to have both Google Maps and lossless music through my car's headunit. I did not want to change it, because it is still good and high quality. After some research, I found some GitHub posts with similar projects, made for power hungry devices (like RP 3 or 4). Unfortunately, I was power constraied, because the headunit already came with a power supply of 5W at 0.5A for a DLNA device. I did not want to tear up the car just to change the power adapter, so I tried this method first. It took a few days to code and adapt what I had for this low power requirements, but I finally got it to work. The problems I have now, since exploatation of the device are the following two: when outisde temperature reach over 40 degrees Celsius, the device stops randomly working. I installed a heatsink, without a fan (due to limited space). Another problem is the lack of touch control. Although not needed for me, and still have mouse one, it would be a nice addition to implement. I know that the headunit has a HID Bluetooth touch control that I will try to exploit. The hardest part was to get the device working stable enough to stop crashing. I have had to reroute the GPU processing to software. I found that CPU power consumption is far lower than GPU one so this was it. Another thing was to optimise the OS and the code to do as few runs per cycle as possible. Although having worse performance compared to faster compiling, it helped me maintain a lower CPU clock, thus, a lower power consumption. Overall I am happy with my niche product.

National Bridges Contest - Brasov 2025

I had the honor to participate at this national contest with my fellow coleague Andrei Cristian, in which we presented our research on massive bridges. Both of us were congratulated for our efforts to receive the 4th place.

ConstructionFest 2025

Today I was at ConstructionFest 2025, organised by our university. During the day, I have presented to highschool students our faculty. I was happy to see that there were so many new pupils ready to join us.

Hyperion Megacoaster

I was speechless after this ride. Honestly hands down, one of the best rides I had. It is on par with F.L.Y. from Phantasialand and Silverstar from Europa Park. Maybe one day, I will do something like this.

International Bridge Models Contest - Bucharest 2024

I am glad to participate at this contest. Me and my colleague Andrei Cristian, tried our best in order to create a great wood model for the contest. Although we did not succeed to win any prize, our head teacher displayed our model in the faculty premises.

Unihack - Timisoara

For this event, our team succesfully deployed a social network for good habits and a proof-of-concept intelligent lanes system.

AIESEC day

I took part of AIESEC program this week. I really enjoyed being among people, trying to help other achieve their dreams. Thnk you AIESEC for this oportunity.

Portathon 2024 - Lithuania, Klaipeda

Me and my team received excelent results at this year Portathon in Lithuania. Our idea was to regain lost energy from hydrogen production facility and use it to cool server rooms inside the port premises.

Magurele Laser and Super Computers

Today I visited the laser from Magurele, Ilfov facility. I was excited to see something like this in person, which I never tought would be able to. One day, I hope I will get to see the Large Hadron Collider from Switzerland as well. Did I mentioned that I was able to see a state of the art Super Computer cluster in person? That was cool. Thank you, Nico, from UPB for this wonderful adventure.

Bucharest's A0 Construction Site

I was happy to see this new high speed road being built around our capital city. I appreciated the fact that they got build this faster than usual. Anyway, nice experience there seeing the mighty future high speed ring.

Futuroscope, France

Really liked this park and its rides. It was focused mostly on cinematographic experience. Loved the IMAX screen and the small coaster they had, Objectif Mars, I think it was made by Intamin; they never disappoint.

Doctoral School Hackaton 2023

This week I participted to Doctoral School Hackaton 2023 at UTCB, WINNING 2nd place. I was placed in a mixted team with 2 people and we had to design a concept of how can we make our campus space better, by offering real sollutions to students. Thank you, Bogdan, for this amazing contest.

ASCB week

Participated and got accepted to be part of our university volunteering team. I can not wait to start my journey here.

Peles Castle Restoration Week 2023
